Red Lead

Chemically, red lead is lead tetroxide (Pb3O4), prepared by oxidising metallic lead or litharge (lead monoxide).

Red Lead

Red lead primer is one of the oldest and most commonly used anti-corrosion pigments. It has been historically used on bridges and steel structures for protection. Its remarkable resistance to saltwater makes it ideal for ship hulls and decks.

While virtually insoluble in water and alcohol, red lead dissolves in stomach acid, making it toxic when ingested. It can be dissolved in hydrochloric acid, glacial acetic acid, and diluted nitric acid with hydrogen peroxide.

In our red lead manufacturing plant, we begin with a Barton plant to produce massicot. The necessary input is refined lead ingots with a minimum purity of 99.97%. The Barton plant output then moves to the red lead furnace, where it is accompanied by various equipment, including a dust collection plant, conveyors, grinder, cyclone-bag-house filtration unit arrangements, and finally, it is packed and stored.
